MARSHALL, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team closed out the ETBU Classic with a hard-fought 82-61 setback against host East Texas Baptist University on Saturday afternoon inside Ornelas Gymnasium. Senior forward Shanna Brown led the Tornados with a dominant 25-point, 11-rebound performance.

The Tornados came out strong, matching ETBU shot-for-shot in the opening quarter as the teams ended the frame tied at 18-18. Concordia carried momentum into the second quarter, shooting 56 percent from the field and building a 39-27 lead late in the half behind three-pointers from Madison Martinez and Katelyn Tietjen.

ETBU responded after halftime, using a 28-9 third-quarter run to swing the game in their favor. The Tigers continued their surge in the fourth, shooting 60 percent from the floor to pull away for the win.

Brown paced CTX with her double-double, while Taysie Trejo added 11 points and three  steals. Martinez chipped in 11 points off the bench, and Tietjen contributed six points and two assists. The Tornados forced 11 ETBU turnovers, but the Tigers closed out the game for the win.

Concordia Texas will play Houston Christian University in an Exhibition match on Monday, Nov. 24. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
