AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team flexed their muscle at Deb & Don Christian Fieldhouse, overpowering Southwestern University 84-70 in a dominant display. The Tornados were relentless on both ends of the floor, with Joey Ramirez leading the charge in a monster performance, racking up 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Southwestern tried to keep pace in the first half, but Concordia never wavered. The Tornados took a 41-39 lead into the break behind the sharpshooting of Aaron San Miguel, who drilled three clutch triples on his way to 11 points. Meanwhile, Donovan Stafford came off the bench and wasted no time making his presence felt, attacking the Pirates' defense and finishing with 18 points.
After halftime, the Tornados took over. A dominant 10-2 run turned a tight contest into a rout, as Concordia's defense smothered Southwestern, forcing 17 turnovers and converting them into 25 points. The Tornados' depth proved too much to handle, with 32 points coming off the bench in a total team effort.
As the game wore on, Concordia kept their foot on the gas. Adolfo Martinez and San Miguel buried key three-pointers to extend the lead, while Ramirez and Stafford continued to impose their will inside. Outscoring the Pirates 43-31 in the second half, the Tornados slammed the door shut and sent a clear message in front of their home crowd.
