KERRVILLE, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team earned a series sweep with a pair of victories in the doubleheader against Schreiner University. Addison Lehew launched a grand slam in game one at Mountaineer Softball Field on Saturday. The grand slam by Lehew was the first since Megan Hooper in 2021.
GAME ONE: W, 8-0 (5 Innings)
The Tornados struck first in the top of the third with a Kylie Kirk sac fly that scored Caylee Spangle.Â
CTX would then make it 3-0 with RBI-singles from Lehew & Molly Olivarez that brought home Malarie Mican & Harley Drouillard.
Lehew would then break the game open with her grand slam in the fourth to make it an 8-0 game. Neither team would plate another run as the Tornados would claim their second straight run-rule victory of the series.
GAME TWO: W, 4-0
The Tornados got on the scoreboard in the top of the first with Mican capitalizing on a wild pitch. They would then take a 2-0 lead into the second with an Olivarez sac fly that scored Denaro.
In the third, CTX upped the score to 3-0 with a Denaro RBI-single that scored Mican again. They would then rally a sac fly from Kirk that sent home Denaro for a 4-0 advantage going into the fourth.
Both teams would then anchor down defensively as the Tornados & Mountaineers would only allow two hits for the remainder of the game.Â
