Softball Outlasts Wisconsin-River Falls

Tornados moved to 2-0 at the Spring Games.

Winter Haven, Florida - Concordia Texas earned a 6-4 victory over Wisconsin–River Falls. The Tornados used timely hitting and strong pitching on Sunday afternoon to improve to 14-3 on the season.

Concordia jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Kylie Kirk doubled to left field to drive in Kylie Denaro. The Tornados added another run in the second as Madison Poe delivered an RBI single to score Christian Everett and make it 2-0.

After a sacrifice bunt by Mayson Post brought home another run in the fourth, Wisconsin–River Falls answered with two runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Tornados responded in the bottom of the fifth with three runs to extend their lead to 6-2. Denaro drew an RBI walk before Kirk added a sacrifice fly, and Concordia took advantage of a miscue to plate another run.

Wisconsin–River Falls scored twice in the sixth, but Concordia held the Falcons scoreless the rest of the way to secure the win.

Post earned the win after allowing two runs over five innings, while Mallory Mata closed out the game in relief. Denaro led the Tornados at the plate with two hits and two runs scored, while Everett added two hits in the victory.

Concordia Texas will next take on SUNY Brockport tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 2:45pm CST.
