KERRVILLE, Texas – Third-seeded Concordia University (Tex.) advanced to its second-straight semifinal after a marathon 4-3 win over sixth-seeded LeTourneau University in quarterfinal action Friday night at the SCAC Men's Tennis Championship from Cree Tennis Center on the campus of Schreiner University. The Tornados held a 1-0 lead going into singles action after Aaron Griffin and Kade Talbot posted a 6-1 win at the No. 2 line and Chase Scholz and Jake Riggs won 7-5 at the third doubles line.
LeTourneau would push back in singles, winning the opening set in five of the six matches leading to back-to-back wins to take a 2-1 lead. Andrew Reiman picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, followed by Diego Maldonado securing a 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) win at the fifth singles slot.
Concordia evened the score at two, when Talbot captured his second point of the match, winning 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
The YellowJackets answered, taking a 3-2 lead, after Hayden Harry earned a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 6 line.
Concordia's Scholz forced the deciding final match, evening the score at three following a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory at the top singles line.
In the deciding match, Rowan Daniell, who dropped the opening set, forced a third and won 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 to push the Tornados into the SCAC semifinals.

Concordia advances to the semifinal round tomorrow where the Tornados will take on the No. 2 seed Hendrix College. The two teams played in the final regular season contest with the Warriors emerging victorious, 4-0. Tomorrow will mark the first time these two programs have met in the SCAC Tournament.
