McDowell, a 5'8 post player, earned first-team honors in the Dade County League during her senior year.

Head Coach Rusty Rainbolt said McDowell brings a physical toughness to the Tornados inside game.

"Tynisha has a good combination of athleticism and strength and uses both attributes very well on the court. She does a great job of getting to the basket and her jumpshot has seen consistent improvement. More importantly, she can really cover ground on defense and is strong enough to defend and rebound inside. Tynisha is a great teammate and our girls absolutely adore her."
