Concordia Texas women's basketball head coach Matt Wallis named Alison Nagel as the graduate assistant on his coaching staff.
Nagel, a native of Iowa, began the position Aug. 29.
"Alison is an exciting addition to our coaching staff. I was immediately impressed with her demeanor when I met her. Her experience as a player and coach will be very valuable to our players," Wallis said.
Nagel spent two seasons playing at Iowa Central College. In those two years, she helped the team to a combined record of 57-12. In the 2010-2011 season, the team broke the program record for most wins in a season going 30-6 and placing fourth at the NJCAA National Championship. She earned third team All-Region accolades that year. In her sophomore campaign, she was fourth in the conference in scoring, averaging 17.2 points a game. She led the conference in free throw percentage (84.7 percent), was third in the conference in rebounds, averaging 8.9 a game and was fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (37.3 percent). Nagel was named first team All-Region, third team All-American and was on the all-tournament team for Region XI. She finished at Iowa Central with an Associate of Arts degree.
She completed her collegiate career at Division II's Southwest Minnesota State University. She was the team's leading scorer and rebounder both seasons, tallying 672 points and collecting 307 boards in two seasons for the Mustangs. During her senior year, she was named to the NSIC All-Academic team. She received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and plans to obtain her Masters in Sports Administration while at Concordia.
"I was looking for someone with solid credentials that could also communicate and work well with our players. We have found that in Alison," Wallis added.
