Andrew Barba

Andrew Barba enters his second year on the sidelines as an assistant coach for the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team in 2012-13. He assists Rusty Rainbolt with all aspects of the program and will be primarily responsible for the training and development of the Tornado guards this season after working with the post players in his first year.

The Tornados set school records for overall wins (23) and league wins (18) and captured their first American Southwest Conference Tournament title and West Division crown in Barba’s first season on the sidelines in 2011-12. In addition, the team also received votes in the national polls and became the first women's sport at the school to appear in an NCAA Tournament under Barba's guidance in 2011-12.

Barba also mentored two post players who garnered ASC postseason recognition this past winter. Shamika Singleton was named to the D3Hoops.com All-Region Third Team, the All-ASC First Team and the All-ASC West Division First Team, while Domonique Liddell earned a place on the all-freshman squad.

Before coming to Concordia, Barba was the head coach of the Dream Team AAU basketball travel club in Austin dating back to 2008. He was also a volunteer assistant for the girls basketball team at Austin High School in El Paso and worked with UPNext Basketball, serving as the tournament director for the Harold Davis Shootout.

Barba, who was a physical education teacher with an emphasis on basketball at the Renaissance Academy in the spring of 2011, earned a bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2010. He currently resides in Round Rock.
