Annika Canaba was officially named the head coach of Concordia Texas Volleyball & Beach Volleyball in December of 2025. Canaba boasts a wealth of experience from both playing and coaching at the collegiate level. A standout two-sport athlete at Sul Ross State, she became the program’s all-time leader in kills with 1,315 career kills and earned first-team All-American Southwest Conference honors four times.

Her accolades include ASC Woman of the Year (2021), ASC Volleyball Conference MVP (2021), ASC Volleyball Freshman of the Year (2018), ASC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete of the Year (twice), ASC Scholar-Athlete Medal of Honor (2021), and AVCA Division III Region 10 Honorable Mention.

“We are thrilled to welcome Annika Canaba to the Concordia Texas family,” said Wallis. “Her proven leadership as a head coach, combined with her exceptional background as a Division III All-Conference performer and student-leader, makes her the perfect fit to elevate our program. Annika’s passion for developing student-athletes aligns perfectly with our Christ-centered mission.”

At Sul Ross State in the NCAA Division II Lone Star Conference, Canaba took over a program navigating significant challenges, including limited scholarships (1.5 vs. the full 9 allowed) and postseason ineligibility during their transition from Division III. Her playing career contributed to a 15-10 overall record and 10-7 conference mark in 2021, advancing to the ASC semifinals.?
