Dave Taylor

Dave Taylor is in his eighth season as an assistant coach for the Concordia University Texas volleyball team.

Last season, Taylor and the Tornados had one of the most successful seasons in program history, tying the single-season school record with 23 wins and breaking the record for most conference wins in a single season. Concordia reached the semifinals of the ASC Tournament for the third straight year, bowing out to UT Dallas. Taylor along with head coach Nicole McCoy-Dalby, were honored by the conference, taking home ASC West Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

In 2019, Taylor aided CTX to another 19-win season, including an 11-4 record in conference play and advancing to the ASC Tournament semifinals for the third time in four years.

In 2018, Taylor helped the Tornados to a 19-14 overall record and a 10-6 record in ASC play. CTX also advanced to the ASC tournament semifinals in Taylor's first year with the Tornados.

The veteran coach joined the Tornados after spending the past four years at Southwestern University as a volunteer assistant. He helped the Pirates to a combined 121-27 record, two Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships and four trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Taylor also gained experience as an assistant coach for two seasons at St. Dominic Savio High School.

In addition to high school and collegiate coaching background, Taylor has extensive experience at the club level. He is a club director with Austin Velocity, an owner of Spike Frog Volleyball and a coach with USA Volleyball High Performance.

Taylor, who is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association, graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in computer science in 1994. Three years later, he served a church mission in Barcelona, Spain.

The son of a high school volleyball coach, Taylor and his wife, Cheri, have four daughters – Brooke, Holly, Rebecca and Paige – and one son, Ryan. He and his family currently reside in Cedar Park.
