SAN ANTIONIO, TX- Concordia University Texas softball team split a double header Saturday afternoon against Trinity University. Concordia picked up the 13-4 win in the first game before falling to the Tigers 5-3 in the second game, which is the first loss for the Tornados this season.
Concordia is now 5-1 overall while Trinity sits at 1-5 this season.
In game one, Trinity got on board in the first inning by scoring off a wild pitch. The game remained tied until the top of the third when Concordia scored three runs on two hits and two Tiger errors.
The wheels fell off for Trinity in the sixth inning, as the Concordia offense pounded 10 runs off 7 hits including, doubles by
Jessica Rattan and
Danielle Faschingbauer.
Trinity did what they could in the bottom of the sixth scoring three runs but not enough as Concordia took the 13-4 victory.
Lyssa Yates picked up the win for Concordia after her six complete innings of work giving up five hits and four runs.
In game two, the Tigers again got on the board first, in the first inning scoring three runs on four hits. Concordia tied the game at three in the fourth inning after scoring three runs off three hits.
Ashley Bolton,
Rattan and Carri Goree started the inning with three singles.
Trinity closed the game out in the sixth after scoring two more runs to give them the 5-3 victory.
On the day Concordia was led by,
Ashley Bolton who combined for four hits. Concordia finished with 15 hits against Trinity.
Next action for the Tornados will be against Rusk College in Irving, TX this coming weekend. The game is scheduled for a 2:00PM start.
