Concordia Softball Sets ASC Runs Scored Record

DALLAS, TX- Concordia University Texas softball program traveled to the University of Dallas over the weekend to compete in their Spring Invitational. The Tornados split the doubleheader on Saturday with a 32-1 win over Rust College followed by an 11-10 loss to Cornell College. 

The Concordia Softball program is now 6-2 overall for the 2009 Season. 

In game one against Rust College, Concordia set an ASC scoring record with their 32-1 win. The previous record was held by Mary Hardin Baylor with 25 runs scored against Sul Ross State on March 31, 2000. 

Senior Karen Smart and Katherine Boos each finished with four hits while Smart drove in 4 RBIs, Boos finished with a team leading 6 RBIs. 

As a team, Concordia recorded 25 hits against Rust. 

In game two, Concordia fell to Cornell College 11-10 after going into extra innings. Cornell scored one run in the top of the eight of an RBI double. 

Lauren Vansickle and Lyssa Yates led the Tornados with three hits apiece in the loss. Yates also drove in four of Concordia's 10 runs. 

As a team, Concordia finished with 11 hits and a season high 9 errors.

Concordia will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Georgetown, TX to take on Southwestern University at 1:00 PM. Southwestern University is currently 5-7 overall with ten of their games being played against ASC opponents.
