KERRVILLE, Texas – Concordia University Texas softball bounced back from the first day of the series to split day two. The Tornados picked up a 10-0 win before falling to the Mountaineers, 11-5 in game two.
Schreiner took 3-of-4 games from Concordia in their opening American Southwest Conference (ASC) series.
Concordia finishes the weekend series 9-9 overall and 1-3 in the American Southwest Conference while Schreiner improves to 14-5 overall and 3-1 in the ASC.
The Tornados started the day with something to prove to the Mountaineers posting 10 runs in five innings of play on 10 errors while taking advantage of 3 Mountaineer errors.
The game remained scoreless until the third inning when Concordia's
Jessica Rattan and
Danielle Faschingbauer each homered in the inning to put the Tornados ahead 4-0. They scored another solo run in the fourth as the Schreiner pitcher walked in a run.
Concordia had their biggest inning in the fifth after they scored five runs on three hits and two errors.
In the second game, a more intense Mountaineer squad took the field as they battled back after Concordia's Rattan hit an RBI double in the first inning to take the 11-5 win.
Concordia finished the loss with 8 hits and two errors.
The Tornados will be back in action this coming weekend as they are scheduled to take on Sul Ross State University on March 27, 2009 at Old Settlers Park. The American Southwest Conference Series will start with a doubleheader at 5:00 pm.
