ROUND ROCK, Texas- Concordia University Texas softball shut out the Sul Ross Lobos for the second day in a row on Sunday afternoon picking up a 9-0 victory in game one followed by a 14-0 win. Concordia scored a total of 65 runs over the four game sweep of Sul Ross State.
Concordia improves to 13-9 overall and 5-3 in ASC action while Sul Ross falls to 1-25 and 0-12.
In game one, the Tornados out hit the Lobos 8-to-4. Concordia scored five runs in the bottom of the first off five of the Tornados' total hits.
Lyssa Yates and
Ashley Bolton each recorded two hits in the 9-0 victory while Bolton led the team with three RBIs.
After five complete shutout innings freshman Yates picked up the win for the Tornados. Yates allowed only four hits and four strikeouts.
In game two, the game remained close until the third inning as Concordia scored 12 runs in the third to put the game out of reach for the Lobos. Concordia was shut out after the third, although it was enough to take the 14-0 victory and complete the four game sweep of the Sul Ross Lobos.
Miranda Ramirez picked up the win after five complete innings while allowing only two hits.
The Tornados will be back in ASC action on April 3rd-4th as they take on Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas. The Friday doubleheader is scheduled for a 12:00pm start.
