Softball Sweeps TLU

SEGUIN, Texas – Concordia University Texas softball completes a three game sweep over Texas Lutheran with a 9-3 victory in game one followed by another 9-3 American Southwest Conference win Saturday afternoon at Morck Field.

Concordia Texas improves to 17-9 overall and to 9-3 in the ASC West Division while Texas Lutheran falls to 9-17 overall and 4-8 in Conference action. 

Freshman Lyssa Yates picked up two wins for Concordia. She allowed just one earned run in game one. In game two, she entered in relief and recorded the win. Yates is now 10-5 on the year.

Miranda Ramirez re-entered the game in the sixth and picked up her first save of the year.

Ramirez had three RBIs in game one for Concordia, while shortstop Jessica Rattan had three hits in the first game to lead the Tornados.

In game two, Concordia came back in the fifth inning after being down 3-1 to score five runs and three more in the seventh to pick up the 9-3 victory.

Concordia picked up 14 hits in game two. Karen Smart led the Tornados going 3-for-3 with three runs scored for.

The Tornados will be back in action on Thursday as they take on Hardin Simmons at Old Settler Park on the Championship Field at 5:00pm. The Tornados are tied with Hardin Simmons for the second place spot in the West Division.
