BOX SCORES: Game 1 | Game 2

TYLER, Texas --
The Concordia University Texas softball team was swept in a doubleheader by 10th-ranked University of Texas-Tyler on Thursday.  The Patriots (2-0) won game one 4-1 and game two 1-0.

The Tornados (2-4) edged the Patriots in the hit column 11-10 in both games combined on Thursday, but were unable to score enough runs to win either game.

In the first game, CTX fell behind 3-0 before scoring a run in the sixth inning.  #Vicky Recek# scored on a single down the right field line by #Kassie Fuller# in the sixth.  Recek reached earlier in the inning on a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch.

Texas-Tyler added another run in the bottom of the sixth and held the Tornados scoreless in the seventh to hold on for the win.

#Lyssa Yates# (1-2) took the loss for the Tornados after giving up three runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in three and two-thirds innings pitched.  #Kat Moreno# surrendered the Patriots' final run of the contest and tossed two and one-thirds innings in relief.

A pitcher's duel between #Haylee Staton# and Texas-Tyler's Kimber Bossom dominated the nightcap.  Bossom came out on top as the Patriots plated a run in the second inning and Concordia was held scoreless.  Staton (0-2) allowed just two hits in the contest and struck out six.

CTX tallied three hits in the game, including a fifth inning double by #Lauren Vansickle#.  The Tornados stranded seven runners on base, which included leaving a runner on third base in both the third and fifth innings.

Vansickle led the Tornados at the plate, posting three hits on the day.

The Tornados will continue their road trip by traveling to Longview on Friday to begin the two-day LeTourneau University Tournament.  Concordia will play Trinity University at 11 a.m. and Southwestern University at 3 p.m. on Friday.
