BOX SCORES: Game 1 | Game 2

ROUND ROCK, Texas --
The Concordia University Texas softball team erased a five-run deficit in the first game of a doubleheader and went on to score 21 runs on the day to claim the series win against Texas Lutheran on Saturday at Old Settlers Park.  The Tornados (13-9, 10-2 ASC) won both games by scores of 11-5 and 10-7.

The Tornados scored 11 unanswered runs after finding themselves down 5-0 in the second inning.  Concordia proceeded to score four runs in the second, four in the fifth and three in the sixth to claim the win in the opener.

Concordia right-hander #Kat Moreno# was chased from the game in the second inning after surrendering five runs.  Right-handed pitcher #Haylee Staton# came on in relief and limited the Bulldogs (7-15, 1-7 ASC) to just two hits in the final four and one-thirds innings.

The Tornados' potent offense was led by #Erin Duhon# and #Candace Velasquez#, who each collected three hits.  Freshman first baseman #Meghan Ferrell# swatted her first career home run.  Senior utility player #Kassie Fuller# came off the bench to pinch hit in the fifth inning and belted a three-run homer to left-center field.

In the final game of the series, Concordia pushed across three sixth-inning runs to break a 7-7 tie.  #Lauren Vansickle# singled, which drove in #Vicky Recek# for the game-winning run.  The Tornados tacked on two more insurance runs in the inning as #Jessica Rattan# and Staton each scored.

Texas Lutheran led 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth, but Concordia responded with five runs, capped off by a two-run round tripper from Rattan.

Staton (4-4) received her second win of the game after coming on in relief of #Lyssa Yates#, who was replaced after allowing seven runs, six of which were earned in five and one-thirds innings of work.  Staton became the pitcher of record after CTX pushed across the three runs in the sixth.

Recek paced Concordia's 11-hit attack by posting three hits in the nightcap.  #Elizabeth Rojo# went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in to help the Tornados to a win.

Concordia will travel to Abilene on Thursday to begin a four-game series with ASC West-leading Hardin-Simmons.
