IRVING, Texas --
#Haylee Staton# drove in three runs, hit a home run and earned the win in the first game on Saturday, all while leading the Concordia University Texas softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Dallas at Crusader Field in non-conference action.  The Tornados (18-12) won by scores of 7-0 and 6-4.

Staton (7-4) tossed six innings and gave up only three hits to pick up the win.  She combined for the shutout with #Teshia Krause#, who came on in relief to pitch a scoreless seventh inning.

#Candace Velasquez# was 2-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the Tornados at the plate in the opener.  #Vicky Recek# and #Bailey Thigpen# also collected two hits each.

With the 7-0 win in the opener, Concordia recorded its second shutout this season.

In the nightcap, Dallas (16-12) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring one run in the first inning and two in the second.  However, Concordia responded with four runs in the fourth, including a two-run round tripper by Staton.

Staton would put the Tornados ahead for good in the seventh after sending Recek plateward on a single.  Concordia tacked on another run as the next batter, #Meghan Ferrell#, singled, which scored #Lauren Vansickle#.

#Kat Moreno# (5-3) came on in relief to earn the win.  Moreno entered in the fourth inning and finished out the contest by keeping Dallas scoreless the rest of the way on two hits.

Staton led CTX at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance and three runs batted in.  Vansickle also had a pair of hits, including her team-leading 10th double of the season.

With the pair of wins on Saturday, Concordia improves to 4-0 against Dallas.  The Tornados swept a doubleheader at Old Settlers Park on Feb. 14.

Concordia will return to conference play on Friday, Apr. 16 at Old Settlers Park.  CTX will host Howard Payne in a four-game series.
