LEWISVILLE, Texas --
Four Concordia University Texas errors and 15 hits by No. 6 East Texas Baptist turned into an 11-2 loss for the Tornados (24-15) softball team in the first round of the American Southwest Conference tournament at Railroad Park on Thursday evening.

The Tornados fell behind early as ETBU (30-9) scored in each of the first three innings to stake claim to a 6-0 lead.  CTX would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth, plating a pair of runs after three infield singles.  The Lady Tigers would put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh inning, scoring five times in the inning.

The Tornados managed just six hits in the opening game off right-hander Alicia Wright, who improved to 13-4 on the year.  Freshman right-handed pitcher #Haylee Staton# was handed the loss after allowing six runs (four earned) on eight hits over three innings of work.  Staton dropped to 10-6 on the season.

Sophomore catcher #Elizabeth Rojo# and junior shortstop #Jessica Rattan# each recorded a pair of hits to pace the Tornados offense.  Rattan registered the only extra-base hit for Concordia, a double in the sixth inning.

The Tornados will play the loser of the Mary Hardin-Baylor and Louisiana College game at 2 p.m. on Friday at Railroad Park.  UMHB and LC will play at 11 a.m.  If Concordia wins the two o'clock game, the Tornados would move on to play at 5 p.m.  A loss would end the Tornados' season.  All of Concordia's games will be broadcast on the Tornados Sports Radio Network.  The pregame show is scheduled to begin at 1:55 p.m.
