BOX SCORES: Game 1 | Game 2

ROUND ROCK, Texas --
#Vicky Recek# led the way for the Concordia University Texas softball team on Wednesday evening as the Tornados (16-12) used the strength of a five-run fifth inning in the nightcap of the doubleheader to earn a split against visiting Southwestern at Old Settlers Park.  The Tornados won the nightcap, 9-3.  Southwestern (21-10) picked up a 5-1 win in the opener.

Recek, who started that fifth inning by singling and scoring later, posted four hits and scored four runs to pace the Tornados at the plate.

Concordia racked up eight hits in the nightcap, five of which came in the fifth inning alone.  Recek and #Lauren Vansickle# both collected a pair of hits in the second game of the day.  #Haylee Staton# was 1-for-3 with three runs batted in.  #Bailey Thigpen# drove in a pair of runs with one hit.

Right-hander #Lyssa Yates# (5-5) picked up the win after tossing a complete game, limiting Southwestern to three runs after scattering seven hits and striking out three.

In the first game of the night, the Pirates scored two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 2-1 lead after a home run off the bat of Haley Hughes.  Southwestern tacked on three insurance runs in the seventh to claim the win in the opener, 5-1.

Concordia took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Staton singled up the middle, which pushed sent Recek plateward.

Recek and #Jana Tritz# recorded two hits to lead the Tornados offensively.

Concordia will play another non-conference doubleheader on Saturday at Dallas.  The games on Saturday have been moved up to begin at 12 p.m.
