Richardson, Texas - Concordia University Texas' Kat Moreno has been named the American Southwest Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, Feb. 20. The junior, who was named to the All-ASC Second Team last season, is receiving the award for the first time in her career.

Moreno posted a 2-0 ledger, including one shutout, by recording complete-game victories over Trinity and Schreiner. The Cypress native started the season by hurling a four-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory over the Tigers before going the distance again in an 8-4 victory over Mississippi College, yielding just one earned run in the opener of a doubleheader against a program which has advanced to the last two NCAA Tournaments. Moreno, who fanned two batters in each game and has held opposing hitters to a .200 batting average, moved up to second on the program's all-time list for career victories (19) and shutouts (5) during the team's first four games of the 2012 campaign.

Concordia, which entered last Friday's doubleheader 1-9 all-time against the Choctaws before beating them twice on the road, will host Southwestern on Friday, Feb. 24 at Old Settler's Park. The first game of the twinbill is slated to start at 4 p.m.
