AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's soccer team picked up its first point in American Southwest Conference play on Friday night after playing Howard Payne to a scoreless draw.
The two teams each had opportunities to swing the momentum in their favor, but both goalkeepers kept the contest scoreless.
The Yellow Jackets (1-6-1, 0-1-1 ASC) attempted 12 shots and put seven on target. However,
Nick Martin was up to the challenge, making seven saves on the night.
Brice Gardner also posted seven saves, as Concordia Texas (5-5-1, 0-2-1 ASC) launched 16 shots. The Tornados put seven shots on goal, including six in the second half.
Adrian Sanchez led CTX with five shot attempts, including a second-half header that hit the crossbar before being knocked off the line by Gardner.
The Tornados will return to action on Saturday night versus Hardin-Simmons. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Town & Country in Austin.
