AUSTIN, Texas – Behind a strong defensive effort, the Concordia University Texas men's basketball team won its third consecutive game with an 81-55 decision against Trinity on Monday night at Concordia Fieldhouse.
The Tornados (3-1) forced 22 turnovers and limited the Tigers (0-5) to 30.6 percent shooting from the field. Concordia Texas also limited Trinity to only 36 field goal attempts in the contest.
Josh Sanchez led a trio of Tornados into double figures, scoring a game-best 17 points.
Donovan Ford added 12 points, while
Andre Potts chipped in with 10.
Concordia knocked down 13 3-pointers in the win, including nine in the opening half. The Tornados also won the battle of the boards, 45-37. CTX pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
The Tornados will open American Southwest Conference play on Thursday night at Sul Ross State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Gallego Center in Alpine.
POSTGAME NOTES• The 55 points scored by Trinity is the least amount allowed by a CTX team since holding Austin College to 55 on Dec. 4, 2003.
