AUSTIN, Texas – Isis Johnson scored a game-high 17 points off the bench and
Nadine Fadelle logged a double-double, as the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team won its second straight American Southwest Conference game with a 73-67 decision versus Louisiana College on Saturday at Concordia Fieldhouse.
Johnson netted her 17 points in only 23 minutes of action, while Fadelle posted 14 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. The duo was joined in double figures by
Jazzmin Jackson (12 points),
Emily Cullers (10) and
Ashlyn Ward (10). The Tornados (2-5, 2-2 ASC) shot 42.4 percent (27-of-64) from the field.
Danisha Allison paced the Lady Wildcats (5-2, 2-2 ASC) with 13 points and 14 boards.
Concordia Texas held a 43-38 at halftime.
The Tornados pushed their lead to 10 points in the first four minutes of the second half. Louisiana College managed to trim the lead to 61-56 with 9:06 to play, but a basket in the paint by Jackson started a 6-2 spurt that increased the advantage to nine.
The Lady Wildcats only were able to get within six in the final four minutes, but CTX held on for its first home win of the season.
Concordia will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 30 against Southwestern. The non-conference tilt is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m. at Concordia Fieldhouse.
