AUSTIN, Texas – Nadine Fadelle scored a career-high 25 points and led the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team to an 85-78 win in double overtime over Southwestern on Tuesday evening at Concordia Fieldhouse.

Fadelle's career night included eight in the final overtime period. She was joined in double figures by Camille Horman, who tallied 15 off the bench, and Ashlyn Ward, who posted 14. Ally Terry and Jazzmin Jackson both reached double digits on the boards. Terry grabbed a team-best 12 rebounds, while Jackson collected 11.

Jordan Owens (23 points/12 rebounds) and Annie Bourne (16 points/16 rebounds) paced the Pirates (2-9).

The Tornados (3-5) won their third consecutive game after overcoming a 13-point first-half deficit.

Concordia Texas took an early 6-4 lead after Isis Johnson connected on a jumper in the paint. However, Southwestern reeled off a 14-0 run to take an 18-6 advantage. The Pirates then increased their lead to 27-14 after Bourne converted a traditional three-point play with 10:16 to play in the first half. The Tornados responded with a 20-9 spurt that included four 3-pointers to pull within two with 1:24 left before halftime. Southwestern scored four of the final six points to take a 40-36 advantage into the locker room.

CTX opened the second half on a 21-8 run to claim a 57-48 advantage with 10:47 left. The Pirates battled back to tie the game at 59-all with 5:53 to play. With the Tornados leading 61-60, Ward buried a 3-pointer to put the home team in front by four. Valerie Logan then hit a layup for Southwestern to cut the lead in half with 2:26 left in the period. Bourne tied the contest at 64-all with 1:07 left following another layup. Both teams went cold in the final minute sending the game into overtime.

In the first extra session, Fadelle made a layup with 11 seconds left on the clock to give Concordia a 70-68 edge. However, Audrey Garcia found Bourne under the basket for a layup as time expired to push the game into a second overtime.

Ward opened the final period with a 3-pointer and the Tornados never looked back. CTX extended its advantage to 81-75 after Ally Terry hit a free throw with 1:01 to play. Bourne was fouled on the ensuing possession and hit three free throws to trim the lead to three. But, Concordia scored the final four points to close out non-conference play with the victory.

The Tornados will resume American Southwest Conference play on Saturday against East Texas Baptist. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
