AUSTIN, Texas – East Texas Baptist snapped the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team's three-game winning streak with a 71-66 victory on Saturday afternoon at Concordia Fieldhouse.
Nadine Fadelle scored a team-high 16 points and dished out seven assists, while
Isis Johnson posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Tornados (3-6, 2-3 ASC). Jazzman Jackson also pulled down 11 boards.
Meanwhile, Amanda Rucker paced the Tigers (5-4, 1-3 ASC) with game highs of 26 points and 14 rebounds.
Concordia Texas held a 43-40 lead following
Ashlyn Ward's 3-pointer with 14:59 to play. However, ETBU reeled off an 11-0 run over the next four minutes to take control of the game.
The Tigers extended their advantage to 68-55 following Rucker's 3-pointer with 2:40 remaining. CTX then scored nine consecutive points to pull within four (68-64) with just 34 seconds left. However, The Tornados were unable to get any closer. The rest of the points were scored at the free-throw line, and East Texas Baptist netted three of the final five points to close out the game.
Concordia will return to action on Monday against LeTourneau. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
