	CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – The Concordia University Texas softball team started the 2014 season with a bang, as the Tornados swept a pair of run-rule contests from Ozarks in American Southwest Conference (ASC) action on Friday at Hurie Softball Field. Concordia Texas posted a 17-8 victory in six innings to open the campaign and earned a 9-1 win in five innings in the nightcap.
	
	Senior infielder 
Jessica Parish led the Tornados' offensive outburst with a combined 7-for-8 performance at the plate. She added a double and drove in five runs, while senior infielder 
Alexis Lynn was 5-for-8 with three doubles and four RBIs.
	
	Concordia (2-0, 2-0 ASC) recorded 28 hits on the day, including 10 for extra bases. Senior infielder 
Katie Carrizales and freshman infielder 
Hanna Contreras each posted home runs in the opening game. Contreras hit a three-run shot in the first inning, while belted a two-run dinger in the third.
	
	Sophomore right-hander 
Zalysa Perez (1-0) picked up the win in the first game, while freshman righty 
Jenna Franz (1-0) gave up only one run over five panels to earn the victory in the nightcap.
	
	The two teams will conclude the four-game series with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. on Saturday. The first contest will count as a league game, while the second tilt only will count in the the non-conference column.
