AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas softball team will look to extend its unbeaten streak this week as it plays a pair of mid-week doubleheaders. The Tornados will host George Fox at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock before playing Southwestern at 1 p.m. the following day in Georgetown.
Concordia Texas (4-0) is coming off a four-game sweep at Ozarks last weekend in Clarksville, Ark. The Tornados pounded out 50 hits and scored 38 runs to start the year 4-0 for the first time since 2011.
The Bruins (4-0) also are off to a perfect start to their season with a wins over two opponents in the Lone Star stats. George Fox swept a season-opening doubleheader at Southwestern last Saturday and claimed two wins over Dallas a day later.
The two teams have met three times previously. Concordia holds a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 2007. The Tornados swept a doubleheader against the Bruins last season.
The Pirates (1-5) have lost five consecutive games after winning their season opener against Pacific on Feb. 9. Southwestern dropped a doubleheader against George Fox last Saturday.
The Tornados and Pirates will meet for the 15th and 16th times on Wednesday. The two squads have split the previous 14 contests in the all-times series, which started in 2009.
