ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Concordia University Texas softball team dropped a non-conference doubleheader to George Fox on Tuesday at Old Settlers Park. The Bruins registered 8-2 and 12-3 (5 innings) victories over the Tornados.

Concordia Texas (4-2) suffered its first two losses of the 2014 campaign. George Fox (6-0) tallied 21 hits to claim the doubleheader sweep.

Jessica Parish paced the Tornados with three hits, including a double, and four RBIs.

CTX will return to action on Wednesday in a doubleheader at Southwestern. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

GAME ONE
The Bruins scored at least one run in each of the first four innings en route to an 8-2 victory in the opening game of the series.

George Fox scored four times in the fourth to claim a 7-0 advantage, and the visitors added a tally in the sixth to cap their scoring.

Concordia scored its only runs in the bottom of the sixth.

After back-to-back singles by Valerie Gonzales and Katie Carrizales, Lyndsey Rodriguez laid down a sacrifice bunt to push both runners into scoring position. Parish then singled through the middle of the infield and plated both Gonzales and Carrizales.

Zalysa Perez (2-1) took the loss for the Tornados, as the right-hander allowed seven runs (three earned) on six hits in four panels of work. She also struck out four and walked three.

Amanda Woods led the Bruins with a 2-for-4 performance that included three RBIs.

Erin Hento (2-0) went the distance to pick up the win. She scattered six hits and allowed two runs while fanning eight.


GAME TWO
George Fox jumped out to a 12-0 lead after three frames and rolled to a nine-run victory in five innings.

Concordia picked up its only three tallies in the final panel.

Noey Ruiz and Carrizales each recorded one-out singles, and both runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Rodriguez then reached on an infield single that pushed Ruiz across the plate. Parish followed with a bases-clearing double to conclude the scoring.

Jenna Franz (1-1) was saddled with the loss after yielding nine runs (four earned) on seven hits over 2.1 stanzas.

Woods (2-0) picked up the win in relief for the Bruins.
