CEDAR PARK, Texas – Louisiana College posted a 14-5 victory in five innings over the Concordia University Texas softball team on Saturday afternoon to complete the three-game American Southwest Conference (ASC) series sweep.

The Lady Wildcats (6-1, 6-0 ASC) recorded 16 hits and jumped out to a 6-0 lead. The Tornados (5-6, 3-3 ASC) cut the lead in half with a three-run third inning. However, the visitors responded with a five runs in the fourth and three tallies in the fifth.

Concordia Texas scored twice in the fifth, but it was not enough to extend the contest.

The Tornados tallied 10 hits on the day. Hanna Contreras, Jessica Parish and Katie Schmidt all logged a pair of knocks. Contreras clubbed a solo home run – her second of the season – in the fifth inning, while Schmidt drove in two.

Meagan Pearson paced Louisiana College with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate that included a double, two home runs and seven RBIs.

Zalysa Perez (3-3) took the loss after giving up 10 runs on 11 hits in 3.1 frames.

Concordia will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 25, with a non-conference doubleheader against Southwestern. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
