BOX SCORE
BELTON, Texas – Rebekah Ragsdale fired a three-hit shutout and struck out eight, as Mary Hardin-Baylor claimed the series finale with a 5-0 victory over the Concordia University Texas softball team on Sunday afternoon at Dee Dillon Field.
The Cru (14-12, 11-10 ASC) scored two runs in the third inning and three more in the fifth to claim the American Southwest Conference contest.
Meanwhile, the Tornados (15-13, 12-9 ASC), who won the first two games of the series, were shutout for just the first time in their last dozen tilts.
Ragsdale (9-5) walked two batters and hit another, but allowed only one extra-base hit. The right-hander also kept Concordia Texas from reaching third base.
Jessica Parish had the lone extra-base knock for the Tornados, a double to lead off the fourth inning. However, she was erased from the base paths two batters later when Mary Hardin-Baylor forced her out on a bunt from
Katie Schmidt's bat.
Jessica Borrego and
Sydney Coffey tallied the other two hits for Concordia, both singles.
Coffey (6-7) was handed the loss in the circle after allowing four runs on seven hits in 4.1 stanzas.
CTX will return to action next weekend when it hosts East Texas Baptist in a three-game league set.
