AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas men's soccer team scored three first-half goals en route to a 3-1 victory over Huston-Tillotson on Thursday at Town & Country.
Stephen Guastella,
Mark Kinyanjui and
Alejandro Labastida all netted goals in the non-conference victory.
Guastella started the scoring with a score in the 13th minute. Labastida served a corner kick from the right side and Guastella volleyed the ball with his right foot and into the back of the net.
Labastida added his second assist in the 34th minute after Kinyanjui scored.
Matthew Butler initially passed the ball forward to Labastida, who ran it down on the left side before crossing it into the box. Kinyanjui put it away neatly inside the far post to give the Tornados (4-3) a 2-0 lead.
Less than two minutes later it was Labastida's turn to pick up a goal.
Marshal Tucker played the ball forward to Labastida, who made one touch and then unleashed a shot that put Concordia Texas ahead by three goals.
The Rams (0-4) broke the shutout in the 69th minute, as Ebun Odubonojo used a pass from Reynaldo Lopez to get past the Tornados back line and then found the back of the net.
Despite losing by a pair of goals, Huston-Tillotson led in shot attempts, 10-9.
