BELTON, Texas – Mary Hardin-Baylor scored two goals in each half and topped the Concordia University Texas women's soccer team, 4-1, in the American Southwest Conference (ASC) openers for both teams on Friday night at the Cru Soccer Field.
The Cru (4-3, 1-0 ASC) scored a pair of goals in the first 19 minutes of the contest to take control.
The Tornados' lone goal came in the 22nd minute when
Lena New connected on a penalty kick.
Mary Hardin-Baylor added two more scores in the 61st and 70th minutes to put the match out of reach.
New led Concordia Texas (3-2-2, 0-1 ASC) with five shot attempts.
In all, 11 fouls were called and six yellow cards were issued during a physical match.
The Tornados will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 3 versus East Texas Baptist. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. in Marshall.
