CLARKSVILLE, Ark. – Isis Johnson scored 22 points in 24 minutes and led the Concordia University Texas women's basketball team to a 61-48 win over Ozarks on Saturday afternoon at Mabee Gymnasium.
Johnson connected on 10-of-15 shots from the floor and 2-of-4 at the free-throw line to lead all scorers.
The Tornados (5-7, 4-4 ASC) shot 44.6 percent (25-of-56) from the field, including 55.6 percent (15-for-27) in the second half.
Bryanna Moltz paced the Lady Eagles (8-6, 5-5 ASC) with 21 points.
Johnson hit a pair of free throws just before halftime to give Concordia Texas a 25-23 lead.
Early in the second half,
Jazzmin Jackson found her way inside for a layup that gave the Tornados a 29-27 advantage. Concordia then pushed the lead to 38-29 after
Kia Love knocked down a jumper with 14:26 remaining in the contest.
Ozarks managed to trim the lead to four over the next minute, but a 14-3 run allowed CTX to take full control of the game. The Tornados kept their double-digit lead the rest of the way to move to .500 in ASC action.
Concordia will return to Austin and begin a five-game home stand on Thursday, Jan. 15, against Texas-Dallas. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Concordia Fieldhouse.
