BOX SCORE SEGUIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's tennis squad capped its fall season with a strong finish Saturday at the Doc Skogman Invitational, hosted by Texas Lutheran.
Gabriel Borunda played for the "A" draw championship, but fell to Midwestern State's Kyle Davidson, 6-2, 6-3. Davidson. a senior, was ranked 33rd in all of Division II at the end of last season.
Borunda capped the fall semester with an 8-2 overall record. His only other blemish came against another nationally ranked senior. Paxton Deuel from Trinity bested Borunda at the ITA Fall Regional last month. Deuel was as high as 32nd in the Division III rankings last year.
Adrian Montes picked up the only singles victory on the day for the Tornados.
Montes teamed up with
Jack Proctor and the duo took home an 8-6 in the doubles first round lost 8-1 in the second round to earn a sixth place finish.
