ABILENE, Texas – The Concordia University Texas upended Hardin-Simmons 59-51 Thursday night at Mabee Complex. With the win, the Tornados clinched a spot in next week's American Southwest Conference Tournament.
WHERE THEY STAND• Concordia Texas improved to 9-14 overall (8-11 ASC).
• The Tornados are tied with Mary Hardin-Baylor for sixth place in the current league standings.
• The Cowgirls fell to 12-12 overall (10-9 ASC).
HIGHLIGHTS• Three Tornados reached double digits, led by
Kayla Strobel's 15 points.

Isis Johnson scored 11 points, while
Nadine Fadelle added 10.
• Concordia forced 27 turnovers, and scored 23 points off those turnovers.
HOW IT HAPPENED• The Tornados held a 15-14 lead with 7:33 left in the first half, but used a 13-4 run over the next six minutes to collect a 10-point advantage.
• Hardin-Simmons was able to cut the lead to 28-22 at the half.
• In the first seven minutes of the final period, the Cowgirls were able to pull even with CTX.
• However, a 12-2 spurt allowed the Tornados to take a 46-36 lead.
• Hardin-Simmons only was able to get within seven in the final seven minutes, as Concordia remained in control the rest of the way.
COMING UP NEXT• The Tornados will close out the regular season at Texas-Dallas on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Richardson.
