PINEVILLE, La. – The Concordia University Texas softball team dropped both ends of an American Southwest Conference doubleheader against Louisiana College at Coca-Cola Field on Friday. The Lady Wildcats won the opening game 5-0 and earned an 8-0 victory in six innings in the nightcap.
The Tornados (2-5, 2-3 ASC) were limited to four hits in the two contests.
Brooke Jones picked up a pair of singles in the opener, while
Shelby Burrus and
Alyssa Autrey both collected a single on the day.
Louisiana College scored two runs in the second inning of the first contest on Mattie Stine's pinch-hit two-run single. The Lady Wildcats added another run in the third on Heather Scully's RBI single, and then picked up two final runs, both unearned, in the fifth to claim the five-run win.
In the nightcap, Louisiana College received an RBI single from Kate Hines in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. After two scoreless frames, the Lady Wildcats erupted for three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and three more in the sixth to pick up the run-rule victory.
The two teams will close out the series at 11 a.m. Saturday.
