PINEVILLE, La. – Louisiana College erupted for eight runs in the third inning, and the Lady Wildcats picked up a 9-1 win in five innings on Saturday to complete a three-game sweep of the Concordia University Texas softball team at Coca-Cola Field.
The Tornados (2-6, 2-4 ASC) tied the game in the top of the third when
Amber Robinson scored on
Alyssa Autrey's RBI groundout. However, in the bottom half of the frame, Louisiana College responded with a two-out rally that produced eight runs to take full control of the contest.
Concordia Texas was unable to score in the next two frames, causing the game to end due to the run rule.
Amanda Allard,
Jessica Borrego and
Sydney Coffey all picked up singles in the contest, while Autrey drove in the lone run for the Tornados.
Shelby Burrus (0-2) was saddled with the loss after yielding six runs on six hits over 2.2 stanzas.
Meanwhile, Darian Thacker (1-0) earned the win for the Lady Wildcats following a pair of scoreless innings in relief.
Concordia will return to action next weekend, as the squad hosts Sul Ross State in a three-game league series.
