BROWNWOOD, Texas – Shelby Burrus hurled a shutout, and the Concordia University Texas softball team picked up a 5-0 victory over Howard Payne on Monday afternoon to complete the American Southwest Conference series sweep.
Burrus (1-3) scattered six hits and struck out four to earn her first victory of the season.
Valerie Gonzales continued her breakout week, as the sophomore posted three hits, including a double, and drove in a run.
Alyssa Autrey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and
Blayr Huff had a single and drove in a pair.
The Tornados (7-11, 7-7 ASC) tallied 11 hits on the day.
Concordia Texas will return to action on Tuesday against George Fox. The non-conference doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Old Settlers Field in Round Rock.
