Texas-Dallas rallies to edge No. 21 Concordia Texas in series opener, 6-5

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas-Dallas used a walk-off single from Haden Johnson in the 11th inning to defeat the 21st-ranked Concordia University Texas baseball team on Friday night at Tornado Field.

The Comets (4-7, 2-2 ASC) scored three runs in the ninth inning to force extra frames.

The Tornados (10-4, 5-1 ASC) had their six-game winning streak come to an end with the extra-inning defeat.

Connor Bertsch and Adam Ortega each logged a pair of hits to pace Concordia Texas at the plate. Michael Evan and Gareth Hutton both drove in two runs with singles.

The Tornados struck out 18 times in the loss.

Aaron Bach (1-1) earned the victory after hurling a pair of scoreless frames. The right-hander also fanned four, while giving up only two hits.

Meanwhile, Ty Bratton (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing a run over 1.1 panels.

The two teams will conclude the series Saturday with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
