TYLER, Texas – Second-ranked Texas-Tyler earned two run-rule victories over the Concordia University Texas softball team on Friday at Suddenlink Field. The Patriots, which won both games in five innings, picked up a 17-8 victory in the opener and an 18-1 triumph in the nightcap.
The Tornados (7-23, 7-15 ASC) earned nine hits in the opening contest.
Jessica Borrego was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Sydney Coffey also was 2-for-3 with a home run, while
Morgan Loredo added two hits and drove in a run.
In the second game,
Amanda Allard drove in the only Concordia Texas run on a fifth-inning double.
Blayr Huff, who reached on a single, scored from first base.
The series will conclude at 12 p.m. Saturday.
