AUSTIN, Texas – The eighth-ranked Concordia University Texas baseball team split an American Southwest Conference doubleheader with I-35 rival Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday at Tornado Field to close out the regular season. The Tornados won the opener 5-4, but dropped the nightcap 9-5.
Concordia Texas (29-10, 23-6 ASC) missed out on the regular season conference title by a half game following the loss in the series finale.
Between games, the Tornados honored their six seniors –

In the opening game,

The Cru (19-20, 16-14 ASC) scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull within one.
Mary Hardin-Baylor then put runners on the corners with one out and
Cameron Cox came in and struck out the next two hitters to secure his first save of the season.
The Tornados led the finale 5-4 before the Cru erupted for four runs in the sixth inning. UMHB then added an insurance run in the ninth to increase its lead to 9-5.
CTX loaded the bases in the bottom of the frame, but was unable to get any runs across.
The Tornados, which clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming ASC Tournament, will host seventh-seeded Hardin-Simmons at 1 p.m. Wednesday in an opening round contest.
