BOX SCORE ABILENE, Texas -- Gabriel Borunda took home the top prize at the American Southwest Conference Fall Individual Tennis Tournament Saturday afternoon at Hardin-Simmons.

Borunda bested UMHB's Scott Wilding 6-4, 6-7, 10-6 to take the crown. Wilding went 12-2 at the top flight for the Cru in Spring 2015. Mary Hardin Baylor went on to win the ASC West last season.

Meanwhile, Victor Escalon played for the consolation championship but fell short, 6-2, 7-5.

Next up, the women's tennis team will participate in the ITA Fall Regional beginning Sept. 18 at Southwestern. The men are off until their ITA Fall Regional beginning Sept. 25 at Trinity.
