BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas men's soccer team defeated LeTourneau 3-0 on a night when three seniors were honored. The victory secured the first season in program history of an unbeaten home record.
The first half was quiet for both teams. In the 20th minute, a cross pass led to a Fabian Billings header but LeTourneau goalkeeper Brian Howell was there for the save. At the half, the Tornados and YellowJackets were tied at 0-0.
Concordia took the lead in the 59th minute, as senior Marc Kouassi found Fabian Billings who zig-zagged through the defense and launched a shot left of the goalkeeper to give the Tornados their first lead of the night. In the 73rd minute, Concordia had a chance to add onto the lead, but Nash Cole's shot was saved by LeTourneau.
Late in the game, the Tornados padded onto their lead with some insurance goals. Omar Aguirre, on an assist from Isaiah Coombs, found the back of the net in the 86th minute to make it 2-0 in favor of Concordia. Just before the final whistle, in the 89th minute, Coombs scored for the second straight game on an assist from Alejandro Labastida, to make it 3-0.
The Tornados are now 11-3 (6-2 ASC) on the season and next go on the road to face UT Tyler on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
