SEGUIN, Texas -- The Tornado men's tennis squad was on the short end of a 6-3 decision Saturday at Texas Lutheran despite a couple of matches that needed tiebreakers.
Concordia (1-2) took on a Bulldog (2-1) squad that was ranked 20th in the West Region by ITA.
Gabriel Borunda and
Jack Proctor fell by the minimum at the top doubles, 8-6.
Micah Austin and
Victor Escalon fell in a tiebreaker at the No. 3 doubles, 9-8 (8-6).
Borunda,
Iosua Malaki and Proctor took points at No. 1, 3 and 6 singles, respectively. Borunda, who ranks 16th in the region, won 6-1, 6-0 at the top flight.
Adrian Montes forced a tiebreaker in his first set at No. 4 singles, but lost the flight 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-1.
The Tornados return to action Feb. 19 at Schreiner.
