Lady Lobos Bite Tornados in Series Finale, 3-2

CTX puts tying run on in 7th with two down, but falls short.

BOX SCORE ALPINE, Texas -- The Concordia Texas softball team fell 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Sul Ross State in the series finale.

The Lady Lobos (2-5, 2-5 ASC) their first two runs in the bottom of the second. After the first two batters of the frame were walked, they moved up a base each on a wild pitch. Jackie Gonzalez then cleared the bases on a two-run double. Sul Ross added the eventual game-winner an inning later, scoring it on a passed ball.

The Tornados (3-6, 1-5) answered back with single runs in their half of both the fourth and fifth innings. Haley Dennett and Brooke Jones had the RBI hits. CTX scattered five hits in all.

Concordia showed life in the top of the seventh, putting the tying run on base on a SR error, but Jackie Gonzalez left the runner on base.

Brooke Jones suffered the loss for CTX.

The Tornados return home Friday, Feb. 26 when they host Hardin-Simmons. The doubleheader begins at 4 p.m. and is part of Homecoming and Family Weekend.
