BOX SCORE AUSTIN, Texas -- The Concordia Texas softball team added another couple of milestones to the Tornado Softball Field history as the Tornados won their first ASC home contest 4-3 over Hardin-Simmons. The home fans helped CTX establish a home attendance record.

All of CTX's (5-9, 2-7 ASC) runs came in the first and third innings. Noey Ruiz improved to 2-1 on the season in the complete-game effort.

The Cowgirls (6-7, 2-7) scratched across the first run on an RBI single from Christa Garcia.

The Tornados answered with a sacrifice fly from Brooke Jones. Olivia Jones followed it up with an RBI fielder's choice.

HSU added another run in the third on an CTX error. Jones and designated player Samantha Zamarripa made up for the miscue as both smashed RBI doubles in the home half of the frame.

The Cowgirls attempted a comeback in the fifth after a M.J. Ledkins reached on a lead-off single and went to second on an error. Ledkins would come around to score on an RBI fielder's choice from Sydnie Darden, making it a one-run contest. HSU left the potential tying run at second base as Ruiz escaped further trouble.

The CTX hurler once again avoided damage in the top of the sixth. The Cowgirls put runners at the corners with one down, but Ruiz sent the next two batters to the dugout on a strikeout and a fly out, respectively.

Ruiz fanned four in all, giving up six hits in seven innings.

Tori Rodriguez suffered the loss for the Cowgirls.

The Tornados travel to Belhaven for a three-game set starting Friday, March 4 with a twin bill. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
