AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision in a heartbreaking match to East Texas Baptist on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at River Place Country Club.
The Tornados' (2-6)
Gabriel Borunda and
Jack Proctor earned an 8-6 win at the top doubles spot, but the Tigers (2-6) took home victories in the other two flights to enter singles with a 2-1 advantage.
Borunda and Proctor both went undefeated on the day with wins at the first and sixth positions, respectively. Ioussa Malaki earned the other CTX point with a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 3 singles.
ETBU's Connor Mason and Concordia's
Victor Escalon wound up battling hard for what proved to be the deciding point of the match. Mason won the first set 7-6 with a 10-3 win on the tiebreaker. Mason went on to win the final set 6-1.
CTX returns to action Mar. 19 against LeTourneau.
