BOX SCORE 2 AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team split its Saturday twin bill with LeTourneau at Tornado Softball Field. CTX opened up the series with an 8-2 win while the YellowJackets took the nightcap, 6-1.
GAME ONE
The Tornado (6-13, 3-8 ASC) offense exploded for eight runs on 11 hits in Saturday's opening contest.
LeTourneau (7-12, 5-9) opened up the game with two early runs, but Concordia answered immediately, scoring three on four hits in the bottom of the first.
The Tornados scratched two more across in the bottom of the second on Brooke Jones' two-run single.
CTX added three more insurance runs with single tallies in each of the next three frames.
Shelby Burrus improved to 3-3 in the complete-game victory.
GAME TWO
The YellowJackets and Tornados traded single runs in the opening frame to start the nightcap, but LeTourneau would later erupt for three runs in the top of the fourth.
All three runs were the result of three CTX errors in the inning. The YellowJackets added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
The two teams will decide the series tomorrow at noon.
