AUSTIN, Texas -- An outstanding perfomance from both
Jack Proctor and
Adrian Montes helped the Concordia Texas men's tennis squad to a 6-3 win over LeTourneau Saturday afternoon at River Place Country Club.
Proctor and Montes paired up at the second doubles flight and took home a 9-7 victory to help the Tornados to the sweep of all three doubles flights. In fact all three positions were deciced by the minimum with the No. 1 tandem of
Gabriel Borunda and Ioussa Malaki and the No. 3 pairing of
Micah Austin and
Victor Escalon all posting 8-6 wins.
Borunda took the No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0 and Proctor took the No. 5 spot 6-3. 6-2 to go undefeated on the day and in fact clinch the match for the Tornados. Montes' dramatics at the No. 4 spot gave CTX the sixth point as he took home a 7-6 (10-4), 6-1 triumph.
"After earning the 3-0 sweep at doubles, the Tornados didn't look back as we jumped up 4-0 with Gabe's win," head coach
Daniel Whitehead said. "After LeTourneau took lines two and three, our guys weren't going to be denied and Adrian (Montes) saw to that with his win."
Next up, CTX travels to Southwestern Wednesday afternoon.
